Akuro has been involved in both the design and construction of Riksbyggen's BRF Viva development. An award-winning project designed by Malmström Edström Arkitekter, where sustainability has been right at the very top of the agenda. The project has been environmentally certified to Miljöbyggnad Gold, and Riksbyggen's ambition has been for it to be Sweden's most sustainable and innovative residential project.
Some of the sustainability measures implemented include a solar panel installation, energy storage in second-hand bus batteries, energy-efficient ventilation, smart waste systems, a building structure designed using life-cycle analysis, and various types of bicycle and car pools. The project has also served as a pilot for a new type of unique, climate-improved concrete, which has reduced the climate impact of production by around 30 per cent and has also generated new knowledge in the field.
