At Tredje Långgatan 18 in Linné stands the former police station, built in 1911. The existing building, which is given a Q (conservation) designation in the detailed development plan, is to be refurbished and extended for a hotel with 55 rooms. The conservation requirements are high, and the cultural-historical value and architectural features will be retained to a great extent.

In addition to the existing building housing the hotel, a new residential building is planned with 24 rental apartments over six storeys. At ground level, a new restaurant will be built, bringing light and activity out onto the street. It will be an exciting new venue with a bar, lounge and a lovely outdoor kitchen in the courtyard. Our project manager says:Ideally, what we do to the existing building should not be seen but experienced through the future hotel in a historically preserved setting. Managing refurbishment, extension and new construction within the same project is exciting and genuinely challenging. The goal is to create a coherent, functional whole with the potential to develop over time.

At Akuro, developing and modernising the role of design manager is one of our focus areas. For me, the role can be compared to my great interest in team sports, and ice hockey in particular. At its core, it is all about building a team, where every player is given the best possible conditions to carry out their specialist tasks while everyone works together towards the same goal. "The team before the individual" neatly sums up what we focus on to drive the project forward.
