The Platinan block is emerging within the Gullbergsvass area in Gothenburg and comprises 60,000 sqm distributed among offices, co-working spaces, restaurants, and a hotel. The magnificent building will have 18 floors and measure 78 m at its highest point. On its western side, the building will connect directly to the new Hisingsbron bridge over the Göta Älv river, and Platinan will serve as a magnificent landmark whether crossing the bridge from the city center or from Hisingen.
Platinan is also characterized by great flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of both present and future premises and flows. The building's transparent glass facade allows for a sense of life and movement, both from the outside and when inside the building. Platinan is being constructed with the highest possible focus on sustainability, and the building will therefore be environmentally certified at LEED's highest level, Platinum. Great emphasis is placed on the building's energy consumption, which entails both innovative thinking and solutions. Among other things, a two-story air handling unit is being built on-site, covering a floor area of 800 sqm.
Platinan's geographical location and ongoing major infrastructure projects directly adjacent to the construction site have presented the project organization with significant challenges. Great consideration for the surroundings and close coordination with neighboring construction projects have characterized the development of Platinan from the outset. Demolition work on the existing block, which included Sweco's former offices, began in 2016. The new building, Platinan, is scheduled to be completed and ready for occupancy in 2022.
Platinan is Vasakronan's first and largest contribution to the Älvstaden vision and the first building within the New Central area, whose purpose is to create an open and waterfront Gothenburg for everyone. The Älvstaden vision is the Nordic region's largest urban development project and means that central Gothenburg will expand on both sides of the river to a total area equivalent to double its current size.

The Platinan project is incredibly exciting; it's not just a building, but an entire block housed within one structure. The building's diversity demands meticulous planning. Within the project, we have placed great emphasis on collaboration and communication. More than 1,000 employees are involved during the design and execution phases of the project. The scale is a significant challenge, but with clear processes, goals, and strong commitment, we are collectively creating a fantastic project.
