In 2021, Akuro was asked to help with a project in Viared, just outside Borås. Riddartorpet, led by the Björsell family, saw the need and the opportunity to establish a business centre with offices, conference facilities, a restaurant, a hairdresser, a gym, a 24/7 self-service shop and other services that the roughly 6,000 people working in the area might need.
Solar panels, ground-source heating, a large rooftop garden, indoor greenery – the ambition was to create a place in Viared where people can meet, interact with those who are leaders in their field, and build something sustainable and lasting. The intended site – and the natural hub of Viared – was a lorry park.
With the architecture firm Wingårdhs at the drawing board, the vision became a building of unique architecture with timber as its primary material. The level of ambition was high, and after discussing the environmental profile we agreed to aim for Miljöbyggnad Gold.
Challenging, important and enjoyable – that was the verdict of our project manager Johanna, the client and the contractor RO-gruppen alike.
